SUMMARY
The Director of the Cultural Enrichment Center provides visionary leadership and direction for initiatives that emphasize the importance of cultural awareness, global engagement, and multicultural experiences across Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC). Rooted in the belief that exposure to global cultures enhances critical thinking, decision-making, and both personal and professional development, the Director guides strategic programming, collaborations, and student-facing experiences. This role champions the Center's mission to prepare students and employees to thrive in a multicultural, interconnected world.

The Director will collaborate across divisions to embed global perspectives and cultural enrichment into the student experience, oversee annual signature events, and support college-wide efforts that align with the mission and vision of KCKCC.


POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Cultural Enrichment Center, establishing annual goals, initiatives, and assessment plans that support global and cultural learning.
  • Develop and coordinate programming that fosters appreciation of local and global cultures and their impact on society, communication, and identity.
  • Collaborate with faculty and student services to create learning opportunities that integrate multicultural perspectives into student life and academic experience.
  • Support efforts to infuse global competency into the college’s strategic priorities in alignment with the Division of Educational Innovation and Global Programming.
  • Plan and execute campus-wide events and celebrations that highlight cultural observances, promote global awareness, and foster student engagement.
  • Serve as an advisor and mentor to cultural and international student organizations and support the planning of student-led initiatives and forums.
  • Cultivate partnerships with community, cultural, and international organizations to enhance student and employee learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and the Office of Global Programming to create promotional campaigns that increase awareness of cultural events and the impact of global learning.
  • Manage the Cultural Enrichment Center’s budget, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Facilitate workshops and discussions that explore the intersection of culture, society, identity, and global citizenship.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated understanding of cultural and global issues and their relevance to higher education, student development, and workforce readiness.
  • Strong planning and program development skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
  • Experience working with individuals from multi-cultural backgrounds, various sociocultural groups, and lived experiences.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Knowledge of current global trends, issues, and frameworks that support cultural and international learning.
  • Familiarity with metrics and assessment practices to evaluate engagement and impact.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and virtual collaboration platforms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in international studies, global education, intercultural communication, student affairs, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in programming, student engagement, or cultural/community-based initiatives.
  • One (1) year of supervisory or project leadership experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience planning cultural or global education initiatives.
  • Multi-lingual or international experience preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This role requires both office-based and event-based responsibilities. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear, and sit, and may occasionally lift or push items. The role may require evening and weekend hours to support events. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


WORK SCHEDULE
40 hours per week, during regular hours of Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (CT). Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
