Compensation: $54,175.50 - $75,962.80. Commensurate with education as outlined in the collective bargaining contract schedule for 2023-2024.

SUMMARY
Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is currently searching for a full-time faculty member to provide high quality, learner-centered instruction for students enrolled in Surveying Technology related coursework at any KCKCC location while supporting the institution’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Provide formal instruction and leadership in the Surveying Technology program using learner centered pedagogy.
  • Ensure curriculum, resources, and materials are kept current with industry standards and practices.
  • Specify, select, operate, and maintain necessary equipment and/or training modules required to support the specific course(s) being taught within departmental budget constraints.
  • Ensure program equipment stays current and on trend with the industry.
  • Work with program personnel on the departmental budget and utilize the e-purchasing system for purchase and procurement of programmatic items.
  • Maintain and update course syllabi addressing targeted student abilities, specific competencies, textbook requirements, grading/assessment methodology, course scheduling, and/or other items as required.
  • Prepare course lesson plans utilizing the approved program syllabi.
  • Provide timely submission of required grade, attendance, or other miscellaneous reports to the administration.
  • Help to recruit and market the program to potential students.
  • Collaborate on textbook selection and educational resources to support the program learning with program personnel.
  • Complete all assessment activities including program review and documentation per the Office of Assessment’s guidelines.
  • Maintain an industry-based advisory board in support of a college-level Surveying Technology program. The advisory board must meet a minimum of twice per year.
  • Design and administer on-campus laboratory sessions to be conducted on campus during the semester one Saturday per month (more if necessary).
  • Coordinate with Kansas Society of Land Surveyors members and vendor organizations to arrange for availability of the proper needed equipment for each laboratory.
  • Assist with student job placement and follow-up.
  • Ensure students are following appropriate safety practices.
  • Participate in regular professional development.
  • Hold regular program meetings with program faculty and staff.
  • Serve on institutional committees as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to train and work with diverse students and learners.
  • Strong computer and technology skills.
  • Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with industry partners.
  • Knowledge of the latest industry technology and ability to integrate the technology into the program.
  • Ability to work within institutional policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work with students, colleagues, and supervisor in a collaborative and professional manner.
  • Ability and willingness to serve as an ambassador for the College by interacting appropriately with college stakeholders and community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in surveying, engineering, or a closely related field
  • Five (5) years of experience performing boundary, construction, topographic and engineering surveys.
  • Professional registration as a Land Surveyor or Professional Engineer.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to drive college vehicles.
  • Teaching/training experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in surveying, engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in management.
  • Teaching experience in an open enrollment, urban community college.
  • Experience with a Learning Management System such as Blackboard.
  • Experience in learner-centered pedagogy.
