JOB CLASSIFICATION
Pay grade level: Grade 15
Compensation: $59,405 - $81,862. Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.

SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant will possess a strong background in accounting and a thorough understanding of monthly financial processes, critical to maintaining the integrity of financial data and supporting the overall financial health of the institution.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Financial Reporting & General Ledger: This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and managing general ledger activities.
  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with GASB accounting standards.
  • Audit Support: Play a key role in supporting the annual audit, ensuring all necessary documentation and reports are prepared accurately and on time.
  • Experience Required: The ideal candidate will have experience in Higher Education and/or Non-Profit organizations doing month-end closing, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Other duties: As assigned by Director of Business and Auxiliary Services and administrator.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Financial Management: Manage the general ledger, including journal entries and account reconciliations; prepare accurate financial statements and reports; and lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Compliance & Audit: Oversee and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Assist and support external auditors by preparing necessary documentation and reports for the annual financial audit.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting procedures.
  • Analytical Skills: Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational & Communication Skills: Demonstrate strong organizational skills with attention to detail and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting.
  • Three to Five (3-5) years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards
  • Proficient in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Experience in higher education or non-profit accounting.

WORKING CONDITIONS
In performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit. Occasionally, the employee may need to push or lift items. WORK SCHEDULE
40 hours per week, during regular hours of Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
