Summary
Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is currently searching for an Audio Engineer to provide technical aid and student training for the Music Department. This position is responsible for updating the inventory of department audio equipment, both directing and mentoring students for live sound opportunities and needs to be flexible in attending some daytime rehearsals, in preparation for department concerts. The position includes assisting with, and practicing technical support for, two large on-campus music festivals per year, as well as other Music Department performances.
Position Description
- Conduct and monitor audio logistics for the M-Pact Vocal Festival and the Kansas City Jazz Summit.
- Conduct and monitor audio logistics for all KCKCC Jazz Performances.
- Update inventory of all audio equipment in the Music Department.
- Mentor student audio engineers within the Music Department.
- Expect to attend some Music Department daytime rehearsals, in preparation for performances.
- Perform other duties assigned by the appropriate supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Maintain current technology and software skills in order to efficiently operate division technology and utilize college software.
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to and ability to work with a multi-cultural student and faculty population.
- Detail oriented.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite; especially Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to work in an active environment with the capability to multitask.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of professional live sound experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher.
- Five (5) years of professional live sound experience.
- Experience with performing arts technology.

Work Schedule
Up to 15 hours per week, with shifts scheduled during regular business hours of Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (CT). Flexibility is required, as the schedule may vary to meet operational needs, and evening and weekend hours may be necessary. Please note, appointment is contingent upon sufficient enrollments and any changes to the program or schedule.
