SUMMARY
The International Coordinator II plays a vital role in enhancing the internationalization efforts at KCKCC. This position is key to providing support and programming for international scholars and students, facilitating their academic and cultural integration. They work closely with the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) but does not serve as the PDSO. The ideal candidate will have a passion for international education, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.


POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • International Scholar and Student Support:
    • Assist in the advising and support of international scholars and students on immigration, cultural adjustment, academic concerns, and personal issues.
  • Program Development and Implementation:
    • Develop, coordinate, and implement programs and activities that support the internationalization goals of the community college, including cultural events, workshops, and orientation sessions for international scholars and students.
  • Compliance and Reporting Support:
    • Support the PDSO in maintaining compliance with federal regulations concerning international students and scholars. Assist in managing SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) reporting and record-keeping.
  • Cross-departmental Collaboration:
    • Work closely with various college departments (e.g., Admissions, Academic Affairs, Student Services) to ensure cohesive support and services for international scholars and students.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Foster community engagement by creating opportunities for international scholars and students to integrate with and contribute to the college and local community.
  • Resource Management:
    • Manage resources allocated for international programs, including budget oversight and materials procurement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must demonstrate understanding of the role of international and immigrant student programs, services, and compliance at the community college level.
  • The capacity to represent the College at local agencies/organizations activities and group meetings.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to and ability to work with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to inclusive practices that promote social justice and equity.
  • High energy, self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships and establish credibility with all levels of students, faculty, and staff in the organization and community partners.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Ability to manage several projects with multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Education, International Relations, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working in International Education, preferably in higher education settings.
  • Familiarity with U.S. immigration regulations pertaining to F-1 and J-1 visas and SEVIS reporting requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in a second language is preferred but not required.

WORK SCHEDULE
40-hour work week. Standard work hours are between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
