SUMMARY

Provide high-quality, learner-centered lab and classroom support for students enrolled in the Welding Technology program.


POSITION DESCRIPTION
  • Collaborate with program instructors on daily lab activities, ensure labs are set up per faculty guidance and students follow appropriate clean-up protocol daily.
  • Provide technical guidance on the performance of program-specific tasks.
  • Observe and document student performance of tasks assigned by the program instructors.
  • Supervise students in classroom, lab setting, and off-site activities.
  • Ensure safety practices are followed by students.
  • Follow required pollution prevention procedures in the handling of chemicals and waste products.
  • Maintain records of the orders for proper accountability of materials.
  • Maintain control of college-owned specialty tools, equipment, and resources for students' use.
  • Ensure all program tools, equipment, resources, and other materials are in good working order following program maintenance processes.
  • Maintain program inventory or all necessary resources, reporting to program personnel on any repairs, replacements, upgrades, or purchase of additional resources.
  • Ensure prompt ordering of items in collaboration with faculty.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations, per the college's guidelines and other enforcement agencies that govern student practices of KCKCC.
  • Assist with organizing all aspects of Welding Technology projects, including good stakeholder relationships, meeting deadlines, and producing quality work.
  • Transport students during field trips, customer jobs, and other activities per the college’s policies and guidelines.
  • Participate in regular professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in the welding industry or a closely related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • College certificate in welding or a closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of work experience in the welding industry or closely related field(s).
  • Training experience.
  • Computer skills such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in learner-centered pedagogy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to train and work with diverse students and learners.
  • Strong computer and technology skills.
  • Able to work professionally and collaboratively with industry partners.
  • Knowledge of the latest industry technology and ability to integrate the technology into the program.
  • Ability to use tools of the trade safely and demonstrate safety practices to students.
  • Able to communicate the necessity of being on time to class, even if this becomes a daily task.

WORK SCHEDULE
Up to 29 hours per week, during regular hours of Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
