SUMMARY
The Sports Information and Events Coordinator is responsible for promoting and enhancing Kansas City Kansas Community College Athletics through strategic communication, multimedia content, social media, website management, and event coverage. This position serves as the primary media contact for KCKCC Athletics and is responsible for all photography, videography, written content, statistics, branding, and promotional efforts related to athletic programs and student engagement.
The position also supports game-day operations, special events, postseason coverage, and leadership initiatives within the Athletic Department, while assisting with broader college marketing and engagement efforts as needed. This position works closely with coaches, student-athletes, and staff and reports to the Assistant Director of Athletics.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Serve as the primary media contact for all KCKCC athletic programs, independently managing relationships and communications at the local, regional, and national levels.
- Manage brand development for KCKCC Athletics, ensuring integration and alignment with the KCKCC marketing and communications standards.
- Create and produce engaging video content for KCKCC Athletics and the College, including student-athlete interviews, feature stories, event promotions, and other multimedia content.
- Create real-time media coverage, including photography, videography, written coverage, and social media updates, to enhance the fan experience and institutional visibility.
- Coordinate with coaches to obtain and report statistics, scores, and game recaps for all regular and postseason competitions to ensure compliance with conference and NJCAA requirements.
- Analyze engagement metrics, media reach, and communications performance to inform strategic planning and continuous improvement.
- Manage and maintain the KCKCC Athletics website to ensure information, content, and design remain accurate, current, and engaging.
- Develop and oversee all KCKCC Athletics social media platforms; assist individual teams and the College with social media content and strategy.
- Serve as the coordinator for the Student-Athlete Leadership Team (S.A.L.T.).
- Serve as Assistant Tournament Director for the annual KCKCC Blue Devil Golf Classic.
- Act as Game Day Administrator when multiple athletic events are occurring simultaneously.
- Collaborate with the Facilities Coordinator to lead game-day promotions, marketing initiatives, and fan engagement efforts.
- Assist with planning, setup, and execution of game-day operations for all KCKCC home athletic events.
- Assist the Facilities Coordinator with scheduling and management of KCKCC athletic facility rentals for outside groups and organizations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent writer with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent photography, videography, and editing skills.
- Strong time management skills with an ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in managing social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficient in Associated Press (AP) Style.
- Knowledge of PrestoSports website services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or higher degree in communications, marketing, graphic design, or a related field.
- One (1) year of experience in sports information, website design, and development of social media content.
- A portfolio of social media, news stories, and photography projects demonstrating experience in sports and public information.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Three (3) plus years of experience in promoting collegiate athletic programs through website design and development of social media content.
- One (1) year demonstrated videography and editing experience, including portfolio examples.

WORK SCHEDULE
40 hours per week. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
