Job Purpose

Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is currently searching for part-time lab assistant to provide instructional support to faculty, create a safe, organized lab setting and support learning of students.
 

Position Description

  • Assure safety in the lab including electrical, medical gas storage, sharps disposal, safety practices of students
  • Maintain manikins including disinfection, keeping manikins operational
  • Maintain lab equipment including organizing, disinfection, keeping equipment operational
  • Maintain lab supplies including organizing, stocking, submitting purchase requests
  • Set up demonstrations, scenarios, simulations, exercises
  • Coach, encourage, and engage students
  • Observe and document student performance of lab activities
  • Comply with the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care standards and policies
  • Comply with KCKCC standards and policies
  • Comply with Respiratory Therapy standards and policies
  • Current NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist knowledge and abilities
  • Current Kansas Registered Respiratory Therapist license, or immediately eligible for one
  • Able to operate respiratory therapy equipment and supplies
  • Able to operate computer, iPad, audio-visual equipment
  • Able to operate Microsoft Office software
  • Able to learn and use low to medium fidelity manikins
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Position Qualifications and/or Education


Minimum Qualifications and/or Education

  • Associate degree – Respiratory Therapy from a regionally accredited college
  • At least six (6) months full-time Registered Respiratory Therapy acute care clinical experience within the last two (2) years

Preferred Qualifications and/or Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in the field
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or other industry certification
  • Current or previous lab assistant experience
  • Knowledge of a higher educational system, especially community college atmosphere

 

Physical Requirements

Work Schedule

Able to work two consistent days/week with one day being Fridays, must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
