JOB PURPOSE:
To provide excellent front desk customer service to students and guests visiting Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) and provide administrative support to the Student Success advising team.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Customer Service including assisting students and guests in person, via email, and via phone
  • Provide administrative support for team of Student Success Advisors
  • Quick and accurate data entry and reporting via Excel and Access using Microsoft Office 365
  • Serve as receptionist for the Student Success Center while consistently presenting a positive, upbeat, and helpful demeanor
  • Process correspondence and documents for the personnel in the Student Success Center
  • Prepare bulk mailings for the Student Success Center
  • Maintain file system and perform regular filing duties of confidential student records as needed by the Student Success Center
  • Maintain the general appearance of the reception area as well as informational materials
  • Provide back-up assistance for placement testing when needed
  • Act as a note taker for meetings, conferences, workshops, etc. as designated by the Lead Advisor
  • Assist with enrollment services as assigned by the Lead Advisor of the Student Success Center
  • Become familiar with various campus resources to provide informed assistance to students, college employees, and the public
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information in the Student Success Center
  • Perform data entry to maintain the electronic information system
  • Order, maintain and organize office supplies in the supply room
  • Train and supervise up to 2 work study students per semester
  • Scan, link, and handle confidential student records such as unofficial transcripts
  • Create, update, and maintain reports through Microsoft Teams as needed
  • Assist in tasks as assigned by the Lead Advisor
  • Manage and review advisor schedules including weekly absence report
  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • One (1) year experience in student/customer service related role in an professional office setting
  • Experience maintaining and working with various computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suites


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Associate’s degree in Administrative Office Professional, Business Administration, or related area
  • Two (2) or more years’ administrative assistance in higher education.
  • Use of institution-specific software applications (ex: Ellucian, Perceptive Content, etc.)
  • Experience with diverse populations of students
  • Knowledge of a higher educational system, especially community college atmosphere
  • Fluent in Spanish


SALARY RANGE: $30,437 - $38,046 annually will be commensurate with Education and Experience. 


WORK SCHEDULE:
Fall and Spring Semesters / Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm or 9:30am-6pm (evening admin) 

Summer hours may vary / Monday – Thursday 7:30am-5:30pm (college closed Fridays June-July) 40 hours per week. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
