JOB PURPOSE:
To efficiently and effectively oversee the Business Office at Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC). Reconcile various bank accounts for the college on a monthly basis along with other duties assigned to the Bursar.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily overview of cash receipts, payments, and deposits processed by Business Office to verify accuracy and proper posting to accounts.
  • Responsible for billing and departmental account accuracy. Ensure that billing is in alignment with college policies and procedures. Troubleshoot errors on student and department accounts.
  • Create journal entry for interdepartmental charges to be credited to Bookstore account.
  • Reconcile monthly bank reconciliations for all college accounts in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Calculate Kansas Sales Tax for various college departments and pay monthly using a rigorous formula. Post amount of sales tax paid proportionately to department accounts in General Ledger.
  • Process PELL, SEOG, Loans, and Work-study draw down from Department of Education weekly. Apply funds to appropriate account and create JE to transfer funds.
  • Supervise employees in cash operations and Accounts Payable/Receivables while ensuring that proper controls and best practices are followed in the Business Office
  • Perform Personnel functions (interviewing, evaluating, supervising and training) for the purpose of maintaining Business Office staffing, enhancing productivity in the Business Office and achieving objectives.
  • Oversee and provide support for college credit card management and mobile credit card equipment. Calculate credit card income and expenses for Bookstore, Cosmetology, and Café.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in an accounting role.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Experience working within the finance area in Higher Education.
  • Proficiency with various computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite and/or experience with a higher education ERP.


SALARY RANGE: $55,280-$69,100, actual salary will be commensurate with Education and Experience.

 

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
