This position reports directly to the Controller.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, organizes, administers, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned staff in areas of cash management, accounts receivable, supervises payroll process and accounts payable; provides training and professional development opportunities; administers discipline as required.
  • Assists the Controller in managing the audit work schedule; manages the coordination and completion of supporting reconciliations, analyses, and work papers for the preparation of the annual financial statements and supporting footnotes.
  • Provides financial information to internal/external parties in a consistent and accurate manner; maintains financial data and competes schedules for lenders, federal agencies, donors, and institutional surveys (IPEDS, HLC, FISAP, KACCBO, etc.).
  • Analyzes and reviews general ledger and operating activities of the College to ensure proper record keeping and best practice; researches accounting issues to ensure proper financial reporting; maintains general ledger and operating ledger integrity and accuracy to provide accurate and meaningful data for financial reporting.
  • Monitors Budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, revenues are records, expenses are within budget limits.
  • Assists the Controller in creating and maintaining a financial reporting system to provide timely, accurate and meaningful information; ensures adequacy of general ledger account and reports: Ellucian, Web Advisor, and other financial records.
  • Act as designated Agent for KPERS Retirement Plan.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Possess excellent organizational and detail-oriented skills.
  • Documented track record with annual audit experience.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant designation.
  • Experience in Higher Education preferred.

POSITION TYPE: Full-time

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

SALARY RANGE: 70,000 – 75,000 annually
(If a current KCKCC employee is selected for this position, consideration will be given to their current salary.)
