Compensation:  $64,585.22 - $79,001.30 commensurate with education outlined in the collective bargaining contract salary schedule for 2024-2025.

SUMMARY
The Student Success Advisor supports prospective, new, and continuing adult learners in achieving their academic goals, including technical education, transfer pathways, and continuing education. This role is housed in the Student Success Center, part of the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Success (EMSS), and reports to the Assistant Director of Student Success and Retention.

The advisor contributes to enrollment and retention initiatives, provides high-quality service and guidance, and works collaboratively across the college to create a student-centered experience.


POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Academic Advising

  • Provide academic advising for students on course selection, degree planning, and goal setting.
  • Guide students through the enrollment process, curriculum changes, and transfer planning.
  • Interpret transcripts, placement test scores, and degree audits to support academic decisions.
  • Support students in selecting majors aligned with their strengths and interests.
  • Advise students on graduation requirements and conduct degree/certificate checks.
Student Support & Retention
  • Develop academic recovery plans for students on probation or facing academic challenges.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for student-athletes regarding eligibility and academic compliance.
  • Refer students to campus and community resources as needed.
  • Promote a welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment for all students.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Coordinate with academic and student services departments to streamline advising processes.
  • Participate in campus work groups and committees to enhance student success initiatives.
  • Assist with reporting and analysis related to student retention and goal completion.

Advising Standards & Professionalism

  • Maintain confidentiality and follow institutional and legal guidelines.
  • Demonstrate ethical advising practices and maintain professional integrity.
  • Uphold advising values aligned with national standards (e.g., NACADA).

Additional Duties

  • Provide accurate, timely information about academic programs and college policies.
  • Participate in special projects and other responsibilities as assigned by the Director or Vice President.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and capable of learning new systems and software as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in education, psychology, business, or related field.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in academic advising, case management, or similar roles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with student retention and early intervention strategies.
  • Familiarity with Ellucian or similar student information systems.
  • Experience working in higher education with students from a range of personal and academic backgrounds, including first-generation and economically challenged populations.
  • Multilingual proficiency (written and/or spoken).
  • Experience with strategic planning or program assessment.
  • Understanding of CAS Standards and NACADA Core Values in academic advising.

WORK SCHEDULE
Assigned 35-hour work week Monday – Friday 10:30AM A.M. - 6:00 P.M. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
