Job title: Part-Time Tool Room Attendant
Department: Automotive Technology
Division: Academic Affairs
Reports to: Automotive Technology Coordinator
Position type: Part-Time, 29.0 or less hours per week
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting directly to the Automotive Technology Coordinator, the Attendant shall work with and assist the Automotive Technology Instructors in the following areas.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize, maintain and monitor tools and consumable supplies.
  • Order necessary tools and supplies.
  • Ensure the safety of equipment and tools are above standards.
  • Charge out supplies and keep inventory on a computer management system.
  • Monitor and service scan tool and electronic equipment for automotive applications.
  • Perform occasional service writing and bookkeeping.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations, per the college’s guidelines and other enforcement agencies that govern student practices of KCKCC.
  • Responsible for the transportation of students during field trips per the College’s policies and guidelines.
  • Assist in student lab spaces working/supervising students as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must have the ability to operate tools and equipment related to the automotive environment.
  • Must have the ability to work with individuals of various backgrounds and abilities.
  • Must have the ability to multitask and adapt to new responsibilities.
  • Must have the ability to carry out verbal and written instructions and provide proper assistance to the instructors.
  • Must have the ability to follow OSHA standards and ensure work will be completed to KCKCC standards and policies.
  • Must understand the philosophy of the urban, open-door community college.
  • Applicant must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to pass the college’s requirements for driving college vehicles, including vans.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Completion of an automotive technology program.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in one or more areas, work experience in a teaching/team-oriented environment and service writing experience.
  • Experience with automotive service management system and knowledge with parts inventory is a plus.


SALARY RANGE: $11.80 per hour.


WORK SCHEDULE:
This part-time position is for 29.0 or less hours per week. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit.
