Job Purpose: Custodial services.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set-up classrooms, offices, etc., for various classes and activities on campus.
  • Clean, sanitize, and stock supplies in restrooms.
  • Clean KCKCC’s facilities; dust, sanitize, clean glass, sweep, mop, vacuum, and stock supplies.
  • Clean, glass doors, windows, and blinds.
  • Pull Trash, recyclables, cardboard, paper, and containers.
  • Handle customer service request and any (unpleasant) task in a professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends, including during inclement weather.
  • Assist supervisor with special projects.
  • Assist supervisor in achieving departmental goals.
  • Assist supervisor in maintaining the safety of the campus.
  • Assisting, where needed, in the movement and installation of equipment, office furnishings, lights, etc.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines required.
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision preferred.
  • Ability to work well with individuals with various abilities and backgrounds.
  • Ability to learn tasks that relate to the campus buildings and grounds.
  • Ability to take care of customer service request and undesirable tasks on short notice, in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to read and understand written directions for the mixing, dilution, and use of hazardous chemicals.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least six months experience in general custodial work required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physically able to; push and or pull carts, move tables, chairs, and other equipment.
  • Physical ability sufficient to lift and carry 50 lbs. of; custodial supplies, ice melt, recycling material, and trash, in supply closets, truck, compactor, and/ or bins.
  • Physically able to work around the clock during the winter season, if needed.
  • Physically able to work in extreme temperature ranges.
  • Visually able to recognize areas that require cleaning and clean with attention to detail.
  • Physically and visually able to operate cleaning equipment and vehicles.
  • Hearing ability sufficient to notice alarms and mechanical malfunctions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.  Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items.  The employee is directly responsible for safety, wellbeing, and work output.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
 

SALARY:                 $14.50 per hour

(If a current KCKCC employee is selected for this position, consideration will be given to current salary.)
