Job Purpose

Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is currently searching for Adjunct faculty to teach various courses in the Computer Information Systems Technology (CIST). This is a POOL position. Application materials for this adjunct position accepted on an on-going basis due to increasing demand for courses in this subject area.

 

Position Description

  • Design courses to meet learning outcomes, and promote student’s active participation in their own learning.
  • Create an effective learning environment that fosters student’s intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.
  • Prepare and deliver academic instruction, including developing syllabi, developing content and designing assessments.
  • Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the student learning outcomes for the course.
  • Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals and foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student s ability to learn.
  • Contribute to and provide leadership in the student s academic and professional communities, and promote collaboration and teamwork among members of these communities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written communication.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse group of students and staff required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Technology and Workforce Development.

 

Position Qualifications and/or Education

Minimum Qualifications and/or Education

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or Network and Cybersecurity Specialist OR a minimum of four (4) years of experience
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) instructor certified

Preferred Qualifications and/or Education

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience with learning management systems
  • Security+ certified
  • Professional experience in military or government Cyber Security technology
  • CNSS 4011, SANS or CISSP

Work Schedule

Must be able to work a variable schedule/hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours. Your appointment is contingent on sufficient enrollments, or on program and scheduling changes.
