Job Purpose

Part-Time Bus Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of either 25-35 students and other members of the college for athletic contests or other activities for the college in a courteous and reliable manner. In addition to providing transportation, the driver is responsible to observe all laws regarding the safe and lawful operation of the bus and to ensure safety levels for vehicle equipment and operation. This is a continuous position. Application materials for this position are accepted on an on-going basis. As openings become available, candidates may be selected from this pool of applicants.

 

Position Description

  • Drivers will be expected to arrive on campus 45 minutes prior to team departure time
  • Dates, times and travel itineraries will be provided to the driver at least 48 hours prior to departure
  • Performs routine vehicle inspection and maintain records of work performed is required; makes timely reports of accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences.
  • Follow traffic laws and state/ federal transit regulations
  • Drives a college-owned bus, providing safe and efficient transportation to the events/activities for the college
  • Possess a valid CDL Class C or higher with Passenger Endorsement
  • Possession of a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and background check
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to record maintenance logs in a timely manner
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a culturally diverse organization
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving
  • Ability to maintain valid certification as bus driver according to state regulations
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Position Qualifications and/or Education

Minimum Qualifications and/or Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must possess Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class C or higher with passenger endorsement
  • At least one (1) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified is required

Work Schedule

Up to 29 hours per week, during regular hours of Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
