JOB PURPOSE:
Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is seeking a full-time Studio Art instructor and Art Department Coordinator to teach Studio Art courses at the main campus location starting on January 13, 2020.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching duties include classroom instruction, assessment, curriculum development, professional inquiry and collaboration, and engaging with instructional technology.
  • Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes such as face-to-face, online, hybrid and/or blended formats during days, evenings and weekends.
  • Participate in committees, task forces, and other college work groups as assigned.
  • Participate in division and coordinator meetings.
  • Promote discipline through recruitment and marketing activities.
  • Provide academic and/or vocational advisement for incoming and current students.
  • In consultation with the dean, create the course schedule, assign course instructors, and make course addition and cancellation decisions.
  • Plan for long-term needs, including reviewing applications for all teaching positions within studio disciplines (drawing, painting, sculpture, and ceramics), Art Appreciation, and Art History courses, preparing and submitting the yearly department budget to the dean, monitoring the curriculum, and preparing and submitting all required departmental reports.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • At the time of employment, candidate will hold a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in a studio art discipline or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a studio art discipline.
  • Two (2) years or more art teaching experience.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Full-time community college, university studio art, or four-year accredited art institute teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching online or in blended/hybrid formats.
  • Experience in new media and digital art media.
  • Experience in learner-centered pedagogy.

 

SALARY RANGE: Compensation is commensurate with education and experience outlined in the collective bargaining contract.

 

WORK SCHEDULE: Must be able to work a variable schedule/hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours. Your appointment is contingent on sufficient enrollments, or on program and scheduling changes.
