JOB PURPOSE:

Kansas City Kansas Community College is currently hiring Adjunct Faculty to teach Mathematics Courses for the 2019 Spring semester. This single posting will be used to fill two or more Adjunct Faculty positions.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The main responsibility is to teach developmental or college level mathematics classes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

  • Must be willing to work with the math coordinator to set up and use MyMathLab (MML) program for any assigned on-ground classes.
  • Must be willing to work with the math coordinator to set up and use MathLabsPlus (MLP) for any assigned on-ground computer assisted classes.
  • Must be willing to complete course assessment requirements for each class.
  • Must be willing to teach developmental math classes as well as college credit math classes.
  • Must be willing to attend an adjunct orientation event held the evening before the start of classes.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to work with computers software in mathematics, Blackboard for entering grades for the students and Web Advisor at the college to enter mid-term and final grades. Ability to speak clearly about mathematics. Ability to communicate analytical processes and procedures.


 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required minimum for developmental mathematics classes .
  • Master’s degree in Mathematics OR
  • Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in the discipline required for college level math classes.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Must be willing to drive to the Main Campus of KCKCC and teach day or evening classes.
  • Must be willing to work collegially with other full time and part time math faculty as well as with administrative assistant and the dean.
  • Professional Experience using mathematics.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

 

SALARY: $783.00 per credit hour.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

Must be able to work a variable schedule/varying hours to meet operational needs. These available classes are through the week Monday-Friday during the day or evening.
