Job Purpose

Provide high quality, learner-centered instruction for students enrolled in nursing coursework at any Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) location while supporting the institution’s mission, vision, and strategic plan. Note: This position requires classroom and clinical teaching.  (Two positions to fill)

 

Position Description

  • Plan and organize learner-centered instruction in ways that maximize student learning
  • Provide learning activities and assessments that meet approved course and program learning outcomes
  • Utilize assessment techniques to monitor student progress and success as outlined in the division and college assessment plans
  • Adhere to College, KSBN, and ACEN established deadlines for submitting reports and records related to student learning and student outcomes
  • Maintain regular office hours to ensure accessibility to students and colleagues
  • Maintain contemporary knowledge of subject matter taught through professional development activities and/or on-going clinical practice when not required to be on campus
  • Meet learning needs of a diverse student population
  • Integrate available instructional technology
  • Select texts and supporting materials in collaboration with the nursing director
  • Demonstrate a willingness to provide online instruction
  • Advise and mentor students in collaboration with the nursing director
  • Participate in the approval and accreditation processes for the nursing program
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications and/or Education

Minimum Qualifications and/or Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing education program
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required to teach Practical Nursing courses; Master’s degree in nursing required to teach Associate Degree Nursing courses
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Kansas professional nurse by August 1, 2019
  • Three (3) years full-time professional nursing experience

Note: all nursing faculty members in Kansas must have an approved Faculty Qualification Report (FQR) within 30 days of beginning a faculty appointment

 

Preferred Qualifications and/or Education

  • One (1) year teaching experience, either didactic or clinical
  • Nursing experience in a mental health and/or medical-surgical environment
  • Experience as both an LPN and RN
  • Teaching experience in an open enrollment, urban community college
  • Experience with a Learning Management System such as Blackboard
  • Experience in learner-centered pedagogy

Work Schedule

Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
