JOB PURPOSE:
This is an on-site live-in position at Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) off-campus Royal Ridge Apartment location.  They will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of student housing; this includes, but is not limited to staff supervision, administrative duties, student discipline, promoting the safety and welfare of all student residents, and disseminating information and programming updatesThe ideal candidate must be self-motivated, able to able to work both independently and as a team, be a positive role model- creating, facilitating, and maintaining a living and learning atmosphere that is conducive for individual student growth, as well as community development, within the residential unit.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate yearly make-ready process.
  • Maintain communication with the management of Royal Ridge apartment, reporting structural and maintenance issues.
  • Provide leadership for operations in planning for summer renovations (move-In and move –out) making recommendations for the purchase of furnishings and equipment, recommending improvements of housekeeping services, and preventative maintenance and safety measuresÍž proactively and reactively, respond to unnecessary/unreasonable hall damages and vandalism.
  • Provide leadership during crises in the Housing Complex.
  • Coordinate Student Housing meetings for students to provide relevant reporting information and clear communication.
  • Serve as the judicator of appeals for Student Housing conduct violations.
  • Maintain office supply budgets and monitor expenditures.
  • Maintain rosters records, In/Out Forms, Keys lost/stolen etc.
  • Maintain open communication with KCKCC Administration to coordinate any issues with Royal Ridge management and support staff.
  • Develop and implement staff training and development programs for student housing staff members such as Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act, ADA, FERPA, HIPPA and others as applicable.
  • Work with Campus Police, Fire Department, Health Center, etc. to maintain a safe and secure living environment for residents.
  • Developing and maintaining all Student Housing guidelines.
  • Provide leadership in the operational functions for residence halls such as key distribution and collection, damage assessment, reporting and billing, maintenance requests, and hall openings and closings.
  • Assist with managing the overall operation of the Student Housing Program at KCKCC, ensure, and uphold the conditions of the Lease Agreement.
  • Assist in responding to all inquiries, and concerns from students, staff, and parents related to the halls.
  • Assist in the selection, and training of Resident Assistants (RA).
  • Assist in setting departmental goals.
  • Assist in the development and measurement of student learning outcomes for Student Housing activities.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Campus Police, Student Health, Counseling and Advocacy, Financial Aid Office, Athletics, Business office, and other Student Affairs offices, and other college offices.
  • Become familiar with, follow institutional and departmental guidelines regarding emergencies, and provide leadership during crises in the Housing Complex.
  • Serve on department, divisional and campus wide committees.
  • Work to implement goals and priorities as outlined in the departmental strategic plan, including student learning and development, as well as operations components.
  • Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful community.
  • Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.

  • Availability to respond to immediate student crises.
  • Knowledge of all applicable laws in student housing. Such as, Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act, ADA, FERPA, HIPPA and others as applicable.
  • Sign tenancy agreement as condition of employment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Three (3) years of relevant professional experience.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Five (5) years of experience in Student Housing, Housing and/or Residence Life.
  • Knowledge of all applicable laws in student housing. Such as, Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act, ADA, FERPA, HIPPA and others as applicable.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:
Must be able to work a variable schedule/varying hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours, as needed.

 

SALARY: $38,260- $49,560 annually will be commensurate with Education and Experience.  

 

ADDITIONAL STIPULATIONS:
Approved candidate must live in Student Housing. A partially furnished apartment provided, free parking, and utilities.  If married, approved candidate must provide a certificate of marriage in order for spouse to live in KCKCC Student Housing. Approved candidate and spouse must pass a background check. If there is a separation of any kind, the spouse/family must vacate the exact date of when employment at KCKCC is terminated. No PETS allowed.
