Job Purpose: The receptionist provides dynamic office and technical support for the Learning Resource Center and Library Services departments that are housed in the Learning Commons. The receptionist is responsible for greeting visitors, answering calls, scheduling appointments, directing communication to the appropriate staff/faculty, maintaining paperwork and distributing general information about the Learning Commons to patrons and campus community. The receptionist will work evenings and potentially Saturday during the morning/afternoon. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet visitors of the Learning Commons and provide navigational assistance.
  • Assist students with signing in and out for services.
  • Answer and direct calls appropriately.
  • Maintain department email accounts and related correspondence.
  • Schedule appointments, workshops, and room usage.
  • Maintain paperwork such as purchasing, timesheets, and leave documentation.
  • Monitor department inventory and complete purchase requests.
  • Assist with scheduling of content area tutoring.
  • Distribute general information about Learning Commons’ activities to campus community.
  • Ensure internet page (MyDotte) and digital signage for the facility are up to date.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office programs, Outlook, and other standard technology.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to focus on tasks in a busy environment.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Work is accurate with attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA.
  • Ability to collaborate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to treat students, patrons, and fellow employees with dignity and respect. Experience in conflict resolution an asset.
  • Ability to work with individuals with varying abilities and capabilities, including students, staff and faculty with an understanding and an appreciation for the philosophy and mission of an urban, open-door, comprehensive community college.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required-Associates degree preferred.
  • One year office experience required.
  • Experience in post-secondary setting preferred.

SALARY:                $11.50- $12.25 per hour
