JOB PURPOSE:
The Assistant College Nurse will function under the guidance of the College Nurse to provide education and treatment to the college population to include Students, Faculty, Staff and the area Community. The Assistant College Nurse is responsible for functioning within the scope of practice dictated by the Nurse Practice Act and the laws in the state of Kansas.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a health resource to students, faculty, staff and community.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures and licensed practical nurse practices.
  • Maintain confidential health records and compliance with FERPA, HIPPA and other federal regulations.
  • Maintain office supplies to include but not limited to front office and medical supplies for department.
  • Maintain routine office flow to include but not limited to, filing, telephone triage, daily logs and quality assurance.
  • Maintain temperature of Tuberculin solutions and record data log for injections, temperature and tally sheets.
  • Maintain office and nursing care absence of the College Nurse due to but not limited to illness, meeting, off campus events or other campuses.
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs to include referral to outside agencies.
  • Maintain and enroll individuals into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Organizes exam rooms, including general cleaning, upkeep, and re-stocking of supplies.
  • Prepares and administers (orally and subcutaneously) and records medications and testing. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance administration of medications by a licensed practical nurse.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
  • Current LPN license, in good standing with the State licensing board and/or obtain licensure within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Familiarity with EMR.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office.
  • Ability to Schedule appointments.
  • Ability to discuss human sexuality issues in a factual, non-judgmental fashion.
  • Must be able to work independently without need for personal and direct supervision.
  • Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures.
  • Ability to supervise work study students.

 

SALARY RANGE: $41,600 - $52,000 annually, actual salary will be commensurate with Education and Experience.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday – Thursday, 9:30 A.M. to 6 P.M. and Friday, 8:00 A. M. - 4:30 P.M. 
Must be able to work a variable schedule/hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to 100 pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods while performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items.
