JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting directly to the Director of Media Services, the Media Specialist II shall be responsible for computer and video systems operations and design.  The position will be responsible for the coordination and upkeep of the departments’ computer systems in conjunction with video, audio, classroom, and cable systems.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Upkeep and operation of classroom technology daily.
  • Basic principles of computer technology.
  • Video Production and streaming technologies.
  • Participating in the selection, installation and maintenance of all hardware and software used in the department.
  • Monthly inventory of Batteries, DVD, computer supplies, and projector lamps.
  • Developing and maintaining schedule for maintenance and upgrading for computer systems.
  • Installation of computer programs for media systems.
  • Developing a monthly report of media computer systems.
  • Resolving hardware and software compatibility problems in media systems.
  • Serving as technical resource to Media Services personnel.
  • Providing systems (classroom technology) training to staff and faculty.
  • Serving as technical resource to Media Services personnel by providing guidance and expertise.
  • Maintain The Main Campus, The Technical Education Center, and The Pioneer Career Center classroom technology.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft network infrastructure and platforms.
  • Knowledge of various video formats, TCP/IP, and streaming technologies.
  • Knowledge of computer software and hardware systems. 
  • Diagnostic techniques and procedures used in hardware, software, and network repair.
  • Knowledge of classroom technology systems.
  • Knowledge of Audio/Video systems, non-linear editing, video production, and video streaming.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot software, hardware, and peripherals related problems.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to initiate work on projects independently.
  • Knowledge of classroom equipment control systems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in computer operations required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in software and hardware installation. 
  • Proficiency in at least three of the following languages or applications:  Java Script, XML/HTML, Microsoft Office, classroom technologies, RSS, Video and Streaming Compression systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in at least three of the following languages or applications:  Java Script, XML/HTML, Microsoft Office, classroom technologies, RSS, Video Compression systems.
  • Two (2) years of experience or technical training in the installation, repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of PC hardware, software and network problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish good working relationships with other individuals in the work unit.
  • Quality customer service skills such as discretion, patience, etiquette and professionalism.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and under pressure.
  • Demonstrate proper verbal and written communication skills

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.  Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items.  The employee is directly responsible for safety, wellbeing, and work output.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

SALARY RANGE:   $36,720 - $45,900 annually, actual salary will be commensurate with Education and Experience.


WORK SCHEDULE:
Must be able to work a variable schedule/varying hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours; as needed.
