PART TIME LAB ASSISTANT – CULINARY ARTS

The KCKCC Technical Education Center is seeking a part-time lab assistant in the Culinary Arts program. The Assistant shall work with and assist the Culinary Arts Instructor in the following areas:

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for product purchasing, receiving and inventory. Includes going to various stores to make purchases for the labs.

  • Monitor students in the lab and classroom setting. Includes set-up, production, and clean-up.

  • Assist students with tasks performed in the lab and classroom.

  • Help prepare students for a career in the food service industry under the guidance of an educator.

  • Make copies, file, and track purchases via spreadsheets.

  • Set up labs for different courses and demonstrations.

  • Practice and demonstrate proper safety and sanitation knowledge/practices.

  • Drive students to and from field trips, charity events and other events.

  • Work schedule will be part-time, 29 hours per week

CONSULTING TASKS

May consult with Culinary Arts faculty.

 

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Current driver’s license.

  • 1 year of food service experience or training in Culinary Arts or related field.

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Read and prepare recipes.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Current ServSafe certification or must complete certification within 90 days of employment.
