The Director of the EMT/MICT Program shall be responsible for all aspects of the program i.e., curriculum revision and development, maintenance of accreditation status, recruitment and selection of students and faculty, and report directly to the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  1. Administration, organization, budgets, and supervision of the educational EMR, EMT and Paramedic Programs.
  2. Continuous quality review and improvement of the educational program.
  3. Oversight of long-range planning and on-going program development.
  4. Measuring the effectiveness of the program with systems in place to demonstrate the effectiveness of the program.
  5. Ensuring adequate controls to assure the quality of the delegated responsibilities.
  6. Supervise recruitment, retention, and advising of qualified students to the EMR, EMT and Paramedic Programs.
  7. Assuring all course approvals are submitted to Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) to meet current BEMS statues and regulations.
  8. Acting as chair of advisory committee.
  9. Acting as liaison with program medical director.
  10. Submit annual report for EMT/Paramedic program.
  11. Review and approve all courses and schedules submitted to BEMS.
  12. Develop and revise EMR, EMT and Paramedic curriculum, course descriptions, course content, and program outcomes collaboratively with faculty
  13. Overseeing and directing the day-to-day operations of the program.
  14. Planning and conducting regular meetings for departmental faculty.
  15. Planning and conducting regular advisory committee meetings.
  16. Maintaining contracts and appropriate communication with hospitals, fire, and EMS agencies for clinical and field internship experience.
  17. Participating in interviewing and recommending hiring of new faculty, adjunct faculty, and staff.
  18. Collecting data for annual CoAEMSP report from required surveys.
  19. Maintain specialized accreditation with CoAEMSP, and BEMS.
  20. Annually reviewing the methods used for evaluation and assessment of the students in the program with the program medical director.
  21. Providing opportunity for all students to complete an evaluation of each course.
  22. Participating in the review of faculty using recommendations for improvement of courses and programs which will come from information through surveys and evaluations completed by current students, graduates, employers, etc.
  23. Schedule and coordinate clinical placement and field internship of all students.
 
CONSULTING TASKS
 
  1. Participating in faculty and staff assessment as necessary.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  1. Supervision, recruiting and scheduling of qualified lab assistants.
  2. Supervising the EMT/Paramedic Lab Supervisor.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
 
  1. Must possess knowledge of methods of instruction, testing and evaluation of students.
  2. Be knowledgeable concerning current national curricula, national accreditation, national registration, and the requirements for state certification or licensure.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
 
  1. Hearing ability sufficient to communicate by telephone and in person.
  2. Physical ability sufficient to sit or stand long periods of time.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
 
  1. Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required (or a confirmed scheduled graduation date).
  2. Must be currently certified as a paramedic by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians or hold a Kansas Paramedic or MICT certification.
  3. Must have Kansas Instructor/Coordinator credential.
  4. Teaching experience in community college preferred.
 
SALARY:                   $61,098.52/per year plus fringe benefits
