PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANT/BOOKKEEPER AND CASHIER

Reporting directly to the Director of Financial Services, the Professional Assistant shall be responsible for:  
 
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Process and maintain financial data and records for the assigned college fund(s)
  • Prepare bookstore sales tax report; reconcile bookstore credit card statements, accounts payable for the bookstore, and agency funds
  • Investigate and respond to student, administration, employee, and vendor inquiries
  • Cashiering responsibility
  • Collect tuition and fees during enrollment and balance collections to receipts
  • Perform routine filing and typing duties
  • Assist with answering the telephone and taking messages for all Business Office Personnel
  • Perform other duties related to the Business Office as assigned by the Director
  • Serve a backup for accounts payable or payroll
 
CONSULTING TASKS
Perform other duties related to the Business Office as assigned by the Director of Financial Services

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Must have strong organizational and detail-oriented skills
  • Ability to complete projects efficiently and accurately with a high volume of work
  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to keep information confidential

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Associates Degree required with college coursework in accounting.  Bachelors in Accounting preferred
  • Two years practical bookkeeping experience required
  • Ability to operate 10-key with efficiency and speed as well as computer skills and other electronic office machines
  • Experience performing various accounting duties and use of computerized accounting software including Excel and Word
  • Experience with Ellucian colleague preferred

  • Hearing ability sufficient to answer telephone and assist patrons of the College
SALARY:      $37,500
 
FLSA: Non-Exempt
