JOB PURPOSE:
The Director of Assessment is responsible for coordinating the assessment of student learning efforts of faculty and staff.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Partner with all college programs/departments to develop, implement and evaluate assessment criteria in alignment with HLC standards.
    • Support faculty in the collection of relevant data to improve student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness.
    • Educate faculty on data analysis tools for effective evaluations
  • Assist all faculty involved in program-level specialized accreditations with appropriate data collection and evaluation criteria to ensure compliance of all required elements.
  • Educate employees on accreditation standards and communicate any and all changes in these criteria in a timely manner.
  • Provide examples of best practices for assessment of student learning and improvement of student learning outcomes.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate innovative strategic assessment programs, projects, and activities campus wide.
  • Leads the development, organization, analysis and reporting of student learning outcomes and related activities to support planning activities.
  • Participate in the collection and analysis of various assessment data to support departmental accreditation and program reviews, including dissemination of results and assisting others with understanding and appropriately using them.
  • Co-chair the Academic Assessment Council with a representative of the faculty.
  • Work with personnel from Online Services and the Center for Teaching Excellence to develop and monitor assessment efforts.
  • Coordinate assessment and institutional effectiveness activities needed for compliance purposes, for Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation and other college-and/or program-level specialized accreditations.
  • Provide written/oral reports on the status of college wide Assessment efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
 

  • Must understand and endorse the philosophy of the comprehensive, urban community college.
  • Knowledge of and experience with developing and evaluating innovative assessment strategies; student learning behaviors; student learning outcomes; program learning outcomes; and HLC compliance.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to build consensus among colleagues.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to and ability to work with a diverse student and faculty population.
  • Must demonstrate an interest and commitment to learning for life for students, staff, faculty, and self.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships and establish credibility with all levels of employee in the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment to successfully initiate and carry projects to completion.
  • Ability to solve complex problems by using best practices and alternative methods.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
 

  • Master’s degree required, preferably with experience/coursework in data analysis and educational research.
  • Experience with data management and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with an academic assessment project matching student/institutional outcomes to the college mission and ultimately to accreditation criteria.

SALARY: $55,300 - $69,100, actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
