FT FACULTY – MEDICAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS (2 POSITIONS)

The Medical Assistant Program Instructor shall be responsible to the Medical Assistant Program Director and to the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health for all matters pertaining to the development and implementation of the program, the facilitation of the teaching/learning process, and the supervision of students.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Curriculum development including course descriptions, objectives, content, and semester calendars.
  2. Planning and organization of classrooms, labs, and externship experiences.
  3. Selection of appropriate instructional strategies and procedures.
  4. Selection of appropriate materials, textbooks, equipment, and software.
    • Maintain equipment in instructional areas.
    • Recommend new items for the program as needed.
  5. Evaluation of student progress as related to learning objectives.
  6. Maintenance of appropriate student records.
  7. Orient, counsel, and advise students as needed.
  8. Identify and select appropriate externship sites for students.
  9. Provide oversight of externship experiences
    • Assessment of student learning
    • Maintenance of good relationships with externship site staff.
  10. Participate in program evaluation and maintenance of educational and professional standards.
  11. Seek, assist with, and maintain program accreditation.
  12. Participate in program Advisory Committee meetings, staff meetings, Division meetings, and other college activities.
  13. Attend classes, workshops, seminars, and college in-services for professional development.
  14. Program colleague instructors.
    • Designated Division Administrative Assistant.
    • Collaborate with the following College employees.

CONSULTING TASKS

  1. Discuss program issues with the Program Director and/or the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health as needed.
  2. Consult with College employees in other areas as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
 
  1. Knowledge of Medical Assistant profession and practice.
  2. Knowledge of learning processes, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology.
  3. Ability to work effectively with administration, faculty, and students.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
 
  1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related area; Master’s degree preferred.
  2. Instruction in educational theory and techniques which may include college courses, seminars, or in-service education.
  3. Credentialed as a Medical Assistant by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
  4. Medical Assistant work experience in clinical and/or business functions preferred.    
  5. Teaching experience preferred.

Terms of Employment:        Full-time assignment for 9-month school year, and summer semester.
 
SALARY:                               Commensurate with education and experience per the Master Contract.
                            If a current KCKCC employee is selected for this position, consideration will be given to his/her current salary.
