The Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) provides college-wide leadership to develop and implement academic programs that promote student success. The VPAA will report directly to the President, serve on the President’s Cabinet, and represent the institution at local, state and national meetings. As the Chief Academic Officer of the institution, the VPAA is responsible for articulating KCKCC’s academic vision and working collaboratively with deans, directors, teaching chairs, and faculty.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, develops and implements innovative programs
  • Determines academic needs of the community
  • Develops policies and procedures related to academic faculty and programs
  • Leads the educational planning processes and the maintenance of the Educational Master Plan
  • Assesses and evaluates student learning and academic program outcomes
  • Identifies and assists in the acquisition of instructional resources
  • Administers the curriculum development, approval, and review processes
  • Develops and monitors partnerships with businesses, government agencies and other academic institutions in planning and delivering educational programs
  • Collaboratively prepares the class schedule, academic calendar, College catalog, and other publications
  • Recruits and retains quality academic leaders
  • Supervises allocation and management of the instructional budget

  • Demonstrate cultural competency, including successful experience working with diverse groups
  • Purposefully utilize data and other predictive analytics to identify trends, foresee problems, and resolve conflicts
  • Manage the operation of a complex organization serving diverse communities
  • Positively represent the College in the community, region, state, and nation


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution is required
  • Three (3) years full-time teaching in a post-secondary institution
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible senior administrative experience in a higher education institution
  • Within twelve (12) months of employment, residency within Wyandotte County may be required

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
