EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY 

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE-STUDENT REFUNDS
 
 
The Accounts Receivable-Student Refunds Specialist shall be responsible to the Director of Business Office Operations for the processing and maintaining the financial data and records regarding outside agency/sponsored billing and the processing of student refunds.
 
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES.
  • Point of contact for students and sponsors, setting up new sponsorships each semester.
  • Coordinate with financial aid and foundation (endowment) to monitor students who have BOTH sponsorship and other tuition assistance to determine proper disbursement of funds.
  • Monitor sponsorship students for changes in credit hours and tuition assistance eligibility.
  • Create invoices and bill outside agencies for tuition and fees related to student enrollments.  (includes pulling bookstore receipts for various sponsors)
  • Monitor and reconcile sponsorship receivable account.
  • Post financial aid transmittals.
  • Process student refunds through NELNET. 
  • Draw Federal Aid funds as available and necessary to fund student refunds.
  • Investigate and respond to administration, employee, student and vendor inquiries.
  • Collect tuition and fees during enrollment and balance collections to receipts.
  • Prepare tuition deposits. 
  • Perform routine clerical duties.
  • Assist with answering the telephone and taking messages for all Business Office personnel.
 
CONSULTING TASKS
Perform other duties related to the Business Office as assigned by the Director of Business Office Operations

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to operate 10-key with efficiency and speed, as well as computer skills and other electronic office machines.
  • Ability to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
  • Strong Customers Service & interpersonal communication skills.
  • Requires good decision making and processing skills.  Must have effective communication skills in dealing with on demand and complex concerns.  This position has high customer contact and interaction.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
  • Visual ability sufficient to process requests for purchases, perform computer and check-writing operations, and identify students against their student identification card.
  • Experience performing various accounting duties and use of computerized accounting software including EXCEL and WORD.  Experience with ELLUCIAN preferred.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree required with college coursework in Accounting or commensurate experience.
  • Possess excellent organizational and detailed-oriented skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Multi-tasking skills are an asset.

SALARY:                           $37,500 per year, $18.03 per hour
