JOB PURPOSE:
Assist Housing Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with managing the overall operation of the Student Housing Program at Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC), ensure, and uphold the conditions of the Lease Agreement.
  • Supervise the Resident Assistants (RA’s) in the buildings that comprise the apartment complex.
  • Coordinate the apartment assignment process; move-in/move-outs
  • Responsible for ensuring that tenants comply with tenancy agreement.
  • Supervise the RA’s in documenting and reporting all resident disciplinary matters.
  • Coordinate weekly staff meetings with RA has to provide relevant reporting information and clear communication. This includes weekly and monthly occupancy reports, resident incident reporting, and any additional reporting assigned by supervisor.
  • Report and monitor all facility maintenance needs and concerns.
  • Work with Campus Police, Fire Department, Health Center, etc. to maintain a safe and secure living environment for residents.
  • Support the programming and policy-making efforts of student housing to create a positive living environment and facilitate the development of students.
  • Attend programs and events and maintain visibility in the Housing Complex/Community.
  • Maintain essential office records including rosters, conduct files, In/Out Forms, Keys lost/stolen etc.
  • Maintain open communication with KCKCC Administration to coordinate any issues with Royal Ridge management and support staff.
  • Assist in all emergencies as needed, and become familiar with and follow institutional and departmental guidelines.
  • Provide leadership during crises in the Housing Complex.
  • Become familiar with and follow institutional and departmental guidelines regarding emergencies.
  • Ability to successfully work with diverse student population.
  • Responsible for functioning as the Supervisor in their absence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent plus one (1) year of relevant Student Housing, Housing and/or Resident Life experience OR
  • Associate Degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Two (2) years of experience in Student Housing, Housing and/or Residence Life.
  • Knowledge of all applicable laws in student housing; such as Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act, ADA, FERPA, HIPPA and others as applicable.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:
Must be able to work a variable schedule/varying hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours; as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items.

SALARY: $26,800-$33,800 annually*.


ADDITIONAL STIPULATIONS:
Approved candidate must live in Student Housing. A one-bedroom, partially furnished apartment provided, free parking, and utilities at no cost* (valued at $7,080). If married, approved candidate must provide a certificate of marriage in order for spouse to live in KCKCC Student Housing. Approved candidate and spouse must pass a background check. If there is a separation of any kind, the spouse/family must vacate the exact date of when employment at KCKCC is terminated. No PETS allowed.
