Adjunct Robotics Instructor at The Pioneer Center—Leavenworth

The Robotics Instructor reports to the Dean of Mathematics, Science, and Business Technology (MSBT) for all matters pertaining to the development and implementation of the program, the facilitation of the teaching/learning process, and the supervision of students.  The individual selected will teach 9-10 credit hours (15 Contact Hours) each week at the Pioneer Center in Leavenworth.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Continue developing, implement, and update the robotics certificate at KCKCC.
  • Curriculum development including course descriptions, objectives, content, and semester calendars.
  • Planning and organization of classrooms, robotics lab space, and summer camp enrichment activities.
  • Selection of appropriate materials, textbooks, equipment, and software.
    • Maintain equipment in instructional areas.
    • Recommend new items for the program as needed.
  • Evaluation of student progress as related to learning objectives.
  • Establish and lead a Robotics Advisory Board, as a part of the larger STEM+ Advisory board. 
  • Collaborate with College employees through participation on Campus Committees.
  • Participate in faculty development, student recruitment, student advising, and student retention activities.
  • Discuss program issues with the STEM+ team and the MSBT Dean on an ongoing basis.
  • Consult with appropriate faculty in development of new course needs and offerings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the MSBT Dean.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Component level electronic design and repair:
  • Experience in AC/DC Component level theory.
  • Experience with pneumatics and pneumatic controls.
  • Knowledge of Computer programming and networking as it relates to functionality of industrial machines, robots, and/or PLCs.
  • Knowledge of learning processes, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology.
  • Ability to work effectively with administration, faculty, and students.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field with equivalent course work in robotics or PLCs preferred.  A certificate/associate’s degree in one of these fields may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree, provided that the candidate has 2 or more years of fulltime work in the field.
  • Teaching experience preferred.

SALARY:      Adjuncts are paid at the rate of $742/contact hour to start.
