The Clinical Coordinator of the Paramedic Program shall be responsible to the Director, EMT and Paramedic Programs, for all clinical activities of the Paramedic students, assist the Director in curriculum development, maintenance of accreditation status, recruitment and selection of students.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Effectively coordinate and instruct the approved EMS Clinical Program. 
  • Provide curriculum planning, instructional unit development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Provide clinical support to include monitoring, scheduling, visitations, tutoring, evaluations, and field internship visitations.
  • Participate in continuous evaluation of the EMS Program.
  • Assume responsibility for organizing and implementing assigned clinical experiences in collaboration with Program Director, paramedic instructors and cooperating agencies.
  • Maintain requirements of accrediting and cooperating agencies and parent organizations.
  • Provide and participate in continuous evaluation of students within the framework of the program with input from clinical site personnel and maintain files and records as requested by the department.
  • Pursue professional development through classes, workshops, etc., and attend required pertinent activities.
  • Create and maintain a positive educational climate designed to enhance learning and motivation.
  • Plan, execute, gather, analyze, and distribute all necessary assessments for initial and continual EMS program accreditation.
  • Participate as a lab instructor for both the EMT and Paramedic programs as needed.
  • May advise prospective and enrolled students in proper curricula.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director, Dean of Nursing and Allied Health, or Vice President of Academic Affairs.
 QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
  • Associate degree required; bachelor degree preferred.
  • Current Kansas certified Paramedic. Current Kansas Instructor/Coordinator certification or ability to obtain Instructor/Coordinator certification within 2 years.
  • Minimum of five years providing EMS or critical patient care.
  • Teaching experience in emergency care or continuing medical education.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a student-centered, team environment.
  • Able to travel to clinical and field sites and other locations assigned for student learning.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrate instructional effectiveness in the paramedic national standard curricula and knowledge of course content at an expert level.
  • Physical requirements include but are not limited to the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, stoop, bend, reach, climb, push, pull, carry, demonstrate proper procedures; excellent communication skills; may need to work within adverse conditions.
Preferred: 
  • One-year of EMS supervisory experience including responsibility for medical quality performance systems.
  • Nationally Registered Paramedic.
  • Formal preparation in adult teaching and learning methods.
  • ACLS, PHTLS, and PALS certifications.

SALARY:                                 $38,777.26- $39,583.26
