JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting directly to the Supervisor of Custodians, the primary responsibility of the Custodian II well be to perform tasks needed and assigned that relate to the cleaning and maintenance of the buildings and grounds.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry the shift phone and respond to customer service calls .
  • Drive company vehicles on campus to move material; equipment, supplies, recyclables and trash.
  • Carpet cleaning and stain removal; bonneting, shampooing and extracting.
  • Tile and hard surface maintenance; scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing and burnishing.
  • Clean, sanitize; sinks, toilets, urinals, showers and refill dispensers.
  • Clean, dust, sanitize surfaces, sweep, mop or vacuum floor.
  • Clean, blinds, glass, lights, vents and maintain detailed cleaning.
  • Pull trash and recycling materials daily.
  • Use of other custodial equipment; compactors, kaivac, auto scrubber and large space sweeper.
  • Set up, provide coverage and the clean-up of facilities for; classes, conferences and events.
  • Able to adjust schedule for coverage & clean-up for events and special projects.
  • Check, gas fleet vehicles and a post office run on Saturdays.
  • Assist in the performance of whatever tasks are necessary in the cleaning of the buildings & grounds during emergencies, inclement weather or other conditions.
  • Follow policy and use appropriate safety procedures with; chemicals, equipment and physical task.
  • On call 24/7, must be willing to work when needed, this may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of floor care maintenance (carpet & tile) processes.
  • Knowledge of the floor care chemicals and the ability to use them properly.
  • Ability to operate floor care equipment; buffers, wet vacuum and extractors.
  • Ability to be here on time when scheduled to work.
  • Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines required.
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work overnight in buildings by yourself.
  • Ability to work well with individuals with various abilities and backgrounds.
  • Ability to learn tasks that relate to the cleaning campus buildings and grounds.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to different types of issues and customers.
  • Ability to take care of customer service requests or undesirable tasks on short notice in a professional manner.
  • Ability to read and understand written directions for the mixing, dilutions, and use of hazardous chemicals.
  • Physical ability sufficient to lift 50lbs of material and carry several feet.
  • Physical ability sufficient to work around the clock.
  • Physical ability sufficient to work in extreme varying temperature ranges.
  • Hearing ability sufficient to notice alarms and mechanical malfunctions.
  • Visual ability sufficient to drive vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one (1) year of custodial experience.
  • At least one (1) year of floor care required.


SALARY: $27,400 - $34,300 annually, compensation is commensurate with education and experience.


WORK SCHEDULE:
Assignment will include working:

Sunday: 2:00 P.M. – 10:30 P.M., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 9:00 P.M. – 5:30 A.M., Schedule Applies. Must be able to work a variable schedule/varying hours to meet operational needs.
