FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide technical guidance in the performance of specific tasks in Cosmetology.
2. Observe and document student performance of tasks assigned by Cosmetology instructors.
3. Ensure safety practices are followed by students.
4. Maintain control of college owned specialty tools for use by students.
5. Enforcing all rules and regulations, per the college’s guidelines and other enforcement agencies that govern student practices of KCKCC.
6. Being responsible for the transportation of students during field trips per the College’s policies and guidelines.
7. Traveling with students to off campus activities.
8. Performing other duties as assigned by the respective instructor.
9. Work schedule will be as needed.

 
CONSULTING TASKS

1. May consult with Cosmetology faculty and students. 

 
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise students in the class setting and patrons on the clinical floor.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

1. High school diploma or equivalent required
2. Must possess current Kansas Cosmetology License and Instructor License
3. Must have an appreciation for the intent of the Cosmetology program relative to assisting individuals in the learning process
4. Must possess knowledge of current cosmetology techniques and tools
5. Must have knowledge of a variety of effective teaching strategies to engage and motivate
   learners
6. Must be patient, flexible, and able to work with individuals with various backgrounds and
   abilities
7. Must possess the ability to work as a team with other instructors in all other disciplines
8. Must understand the urban community college philosophy for the open-door concept

 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

1. High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree preferred
2. Must possess current Kansas Cosmetology License and Instructor License
3. Minimum of three years as a cosmetology instructor and two years work experience in the cosmetology industry

 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
 
SALARY:       $44.25 per hour
