FULL-TIME COORDINATOR/INSTRUCTOR OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
 
Kansas City Kansas Community College is seeking an individual to fill the above vacancy for Fall Semester, 2014.  The successful candidate must be creative, open to change, have a passion for learning and willing to promote the mission of the College.
 
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
 
 
  1. Instructional responsibilities will include teaching a minimum of 12 semester hours per semester
  2. Participate in college activities and serve on college committee(s) as necessary
  3. Maintain scheduled office hours
  4. Participate in professional activities and college functions
  5. Curriculum development and articulation
  6. Adjunct faculty recruitment and training
  7. Recruit and advise Early Childhood Education students
  8. Other duties as assigned by the Dean of your Division
 
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
          None
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
  1. Experience teaching at the college level (minimum 3-5 years) and teaching students at the community college level is a definite plus
  2. Experience working in an Early Childhood setting (minimum 5 years); supervision a plus
  3. Knowledge of Kansas teacher preparation rules
  4. Experience teaching traditional and nontraditional college students with a wide variety of learning styles
  5. Experience and/or Participation in integrated, interdisciplinary teaching and learning initiatives is encouraged
  6. A minimum of 3 years teaching at the post-secondary level is required, preferably at a community college and a minimum of 5 years work experience in an early childhood setting
  7. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills are required
  8. Knowledge of Kansas licensing for Early Childhood Education standards
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
 
  1. Master’s degree in Early Childhood or closely related field.  Doctorate degree is preferred.
  1. Kansas licensure is highly preferred

  5. Incorporate appropriate General Education learning outcomes into curriculum.
  6. Meet learning needs of diverse student populations.
  7. Integrate available instructional technology when appropriate.
  8. Select texts and supporting materials.
 
Evaluation of Student Learning:
 
  1. Adhere to division-determined and KBOR approved course outcomes.
  2. Adhere to College, State, and Federal established deadlines for submitting reports and records related to student learning and student outcomes.
  3. Maintain accurate records of student progress.
  4. Assess Student Learning:  Utilize assessment techniques to monitor student progress and success as outlined in the division and college assessment plans.
 
Technology:
 
  1. Operate and stay current on appropriate instructional technology equipment (over-heads, computers, Display Devices, Smart classroom equipment, etc.).
  2. Demonstrate Computer Literacy and Internet Skills.
  3. Retrieve and manage information via technology.
  4. Demonstrate a willingness to provide online instruction.
 
Communication: 
 
  1. Communicate effectively using reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills with students, faculty, staff, and administration.

Attendance:
