TECHNICAL ASSISTANT-BUILDINGS & GROUNDS

Reporting directly to the Director of Buildings & Grounds, the Technical Assistant shall be responsible for all administrative aspects and general office support for the Buildings & Grounds Department.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and monitor the departmental open purchase order files.
  • Receive all departmental goods and materials shipped to the College.
  • Verify packing slips from all packages received against the open purchase order file.
  • Coordinate the shipping of goods from the College to other agencies using carriers

       such as UPS, RPS, Federal Express, Freight Lines, etc.

  • Answer the telephone, take messages and route to the appropriate party; and perform routine office tasks, filing, etc.
  • Maintain files pertaining to Buildings & Grounds.
  • Completing and forwarding absences to Human Resources.
  • Reconcile credit card statements.
  • Identify company assets after consulting with the Purchasing Agent.
  • Compile semi-monthly overtime report with approval of the Director of Buildings & Grounds.
  • Initiate purchase orders for Buildings & Grounds.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to operate computer and printer.
  • Working knowledge of Excel.
  • Become knowledgeable about the department to be able to answer questions in the absence of the Director or Assistant Director.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in shipping and receiving and/or payment of bills preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.  Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the

average person.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items.  The employee is directly responsible for safety, wellbeing, and work output.

 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

 

  • Visual ability sufficient to read mailing labels, purchase orders and computer screen.
  • Hearing ability sufficient to use telephone, notice alarms or mechanical malfunctions in Service Building.

 

SALARY:             $27,500-32,500 per year

WORK HOURS: 6:00am-2:30pm (required to stagger lunch break to ensure office coverage)

 

FLSA STATUS:  Non-Exempt
