Reports to: Vice President of Academic Affairs

Position type: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Purpose: The Dean of Technology and Workforce Development is responsible for the sound management and strategic oversight of the departments within their division. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the career and technical education faculty at KCKCC. 
  • Develop innovative strategies to support student learning and faculty teaching.
  • Oversee the assessment and program review activities for the division to ensure compliance of national and program-specific accreditation standards.
  • Oversee the budgets of the Technology and Workforce Division.
  • Ensure division compliance with college policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for the division.
  • Support effective use of technology for learning in all settings.
  • Attend and participate in the Kansas Technical Education Authority monthly meetings.
  • Hold regular meetings with departmental leaders of Workforce and Entrepreneurship, Continuing Education, Cultural Outreach, and Adult Education to ensure that coordinated programming is provided to the community.
  • Serve as the college representative to various Workforce Partnership and Economic Development Councils.
  • Serve as the college lead for business and industry partnerships as needed.
  • Manage the Workforce, Entrepreneurial, Adult Education, and Continuing Education efforts of the college.
  • Serve as a member of the Dean’s Council.
  • Work with the industry advisory boards of the career and technical education programs to maintain quality programs that meet their needs.
  • Provide leadership for appropriate integration of learning technologies and pedagogy into instructional programs and activities.
  • Provide written/oral reports on the performance of the Technology and Workforce Development Division.
  • Responsible for understanding the Safety needs of the programs at the technical education center and maintaining a ‘Safety First’ environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must understand and endorse the philosophy of the comprehensive, urban community college.
  • Knowledge of and experience with developing and evaluating assessment strategies; student learning behaviors; student learning outcomes; program learning outcomes; and HLC compliance.
  • Experience in innovative, collaborative work with business and industry and with K-12 regarding the development of career and technical education.
  • Experience developing continuing education programs into academic or professional certification offerings.
  • Must have experience with course content development and course delivery systems to include on-line and hybrid courses.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to build consensus among colleagues.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership and management skills and a record of accomplishment in planning and budgeting.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to and ability to work with a diverse student and faculty population.
  • Must demonstrate an interest and commitment to learning for life for students, staff, faculty, and self.
  • Must be experienced with current technology and classroom application of current technology.
  • Must be willing to lead the Division toward innovative use of current technology in the learning process.
  • Experience in collaborative work with business and industry regarding development of career and technical education.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships and establish credibility with all levels of employee in the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment to successfully initiate and carry projects to completion.
  • Ability to solve complex problems by using best practices and alternative methods.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Master degree required.
  • Teaching experience in a Career and Technical Education program.
  • Demonstrated experience building partnerships with business and industry.
  • Experience working in a business or industry setting is preferred.

SALARY:   Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
