JOB PURPOSE:
Since 1977, the Kansas City Kansas Community College Foundation has proudly served as a partner and avid supporter for the enhancement of teaching, learning, and engaging the community to transform lives. As a charitable, non-profit 501(c)(3), it is led by committed community members.  Foundation leadership raises funds for College programs, projects, and special initiatives; and administers scholarship programs designed to provide KCKCC students with academic and professional growth opportunities, with a commitment to facilitating key partnerships between the college and the community.

 

Reporting to the College President, the Foundation Director is responsible for the daily management of a comprehensive, strategic, integrated effort to build the base of individual donors and increase the level of support through various platforms including direct mail, e-mail, internet, social media campaigns, events, and other initiatives focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of support. The Director manages the development and implementation of giving strategies, activities, events, and timelines to solicit contributions from patrons and other constituents for gifts and manages a year-round cultivation and communication program supporting all fund programs. The Director is also responsible for the supervising the Foundation Staff.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, direct and perform activities resulting in the development of resources including major funds acquisition, annual and direct mail campaigns, major gift drives, special fund activities, planned and deferred giving programs and major gift and capital campaigns.
  • Create, curate and track the Foundation’s communications.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the development database; process, track, and acknowledge donations.
  • Craft written development materials that provide donors current and quality information about the Foundation and College
  • Direct or manage all day to day operations of the Foundation to include staff supervision and growth, accounting records, budgets, annual audits, Board management and relationships.
  • Perform such other duties as assigned from time to time by the President.
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of prospects, working in close partnership with Board of Directors, college leaders, faculty and staff.
  • Proactively pursue long-term partnerships and relationships to support the College’s goals. Facilitate strategic relationships between senior leaders and institutional giving prospects; determine ways to leverage relationships with key internal or external partners.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors in Business, Fundraising, Non-profit management or similar required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in fundraising development.
  • Experience creating and managing a multi-year, multi-level Capital Campaign.
  • Experience in creating and hosting fundraising events.
  • Experience with staff leadership / management.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Business, Fundraising, Non-profit management or similar discipline.
  • Evidence of major gift attainment.
  • Experience with volunteer board management.

  • Passionate about interacting with the public and communicating to increase engagement.
  • Experience conceptualizing and formulating proposals that excite potential donors.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work effectively with strict time lines and within a development team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong collaborative spirit.
  • Exceptional research, strategic, and creative thinking skills are essential.
  • Ability to forge productive working relationships with Foundation Board, as well as individuals within and outside the organization.
  • Strong commitment to the mission, vision, values, and programs of the Foundation and the ability to convey that information.
  • Capacity to embrace change in a dynamic and evolving organization.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and commonly used social media management and tracking tools.


WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a normal office environment. Requires movement between floors and departments within the college and an ability to work outside standard work hours as needed.

 

SALARY RANGE:   $78,700 - $98,400, actual salary will be commensurate with Education and Experience.
 

WORK SCHEDULE:
Must be able to work a variable schedule/varying hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours; as needed.
