PART TIME TECHNICAL ASSISTANT INTERCULTURAL CENTER

Job Purpose: The Technical Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for the department. The selected individual will be part of a team effort to facilitate multicultural understanding, citizenship and harmony. Kansas City Kansas Community College’s Intercultural Center celebrates the cultural contributions of our diverse populations by providing multicultural programs, activities, training and education for the campus and local communities. The Intercultural Center acknowledges and promotes diversity as a positive imperative of the College.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine administrative duties to support the department.
  • Prepare monthly reports, letters and presentations, and organize and compile information.
  • Research information as needed.
  • Monitor department budget, code invoices for payment and process expense reports.
  • Assist departmental personnel with scheduling travel, meetings, activities, and use of the Center.
  • Answer phones, assist internal and external customers, and greet visitors.
  • Provide project support as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of pertinent information.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills
  • Must possess strong communication skills, oral and written.
  • Keyboarding at 55 words per minute required (test will be administered).
  • Must have strong MS Office Skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must display strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks and changing priorities efficiently.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with diverse groups preferred.

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

SALARY:                 $11.26 per hour
