JOB PURPOSE:
Oversee the maintenance of all College owned buildings and equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use management style that promotes cooperation, teamwork and collaborative decision making amongst staff members.
  • Ensure that the maintenance and operational functions are supportive of instructional goals and objectives of the College.
  • Work cooperatively with others to meet needs essential to the success of the College.
  • Develop guidelines, standards and procedures to ensure quality performance of the custodial and building maintenance staff.
  • Coordinate testing of products and develop standard specifications for custodial and maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the College’s needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs.
  • Keep informed of and comply with all state and federal requirements pertaining to maintenance and operations of buildings, including hazardous materials, asbestos, fire codes, etc.
  • Develop and coordinate a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
  • Develop and coordinate programs for the operation, maintenance, improvement, safety and security of all buildings and related equipment.
  • Make scheduled inspections of all facilities to evaluate the quality of custodial, building maintenance and safety programs.
  • Maintain current files and records of building plans and specifications.
  • Maintain current file of asbestos inspections and related requirements.
  • Maintain current file of Americans with Disabilities Act and related requirements.
  • Execute all supply requests by custodians and building maintenance personnel.
  • Execute all work orders in an orderly, expeditious manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Chief of Facilities Services

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of several areas of maintenance (i.e. plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, roof repair and/or small engine repair).
  • Knowledge of blueprints and construction.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma required.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years’ experience in several areas of maintenance (i.e. plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, roof repair and/or small engine repair).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Forklift trainer certification.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.  Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items.  The employee is directly responsible for safety, wellbeing, and work output.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

SALARY:   Compensation is commensurate with education and experience.
 

WORK SCHEDULE:

Must be able to work a variable schedule/varying hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours; as needed.
