Adult Education Assessment Instructor

The Adult Education Assessment Instructor shall be responsible to the Enrollment Manager. This position will conduct all Adult Education orientation sessions and TABE assessments and assist with program post-testing. This position will be part of the transition team and will focus on activities to prepare students for post-secondary education.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist Enrollment Manager and Director with TABE management system
  2. Coordinate ongoing TABE assessment sessions for students entering Adult Education
  3. Keep all necessary records for state and federal reporting.
  4. Assist Instructors with TABE post-testing.
  5. Assist in aligning adult education curricula with TABE.
  6. Promotes best practices for assessment and learning
  7. Assist students with KCKCC’s college application
  8. Provide learners with in-depth information on local post-secondary programs and careers
  9. Assist learners to set dates to take GED exam
  10. Advise learners regarding academics and obstacles to education
  11. Utilize a variety of effective teaching strategies to engage and motivate adult learners
  12. Attend professional development activities
  13. Assist the full-time transition instructor and A-OK coordinator with student enrollments.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Enrollment Manager.
 
CONSULTING TASKS:
  1. Consult with other instructors, the Enrollment Manager and Director about student progress.
  2. Consult with Enrollment Manager concerning the purchase of books/software/materials and other items to enhance the program.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  1. Demonstrate familiarity with computer based assessments
  2. Must have an appreciation for the intent of the Adult Education Program relative to assisting individuals in the learning process.
  3. Must have knowledge of a variety of effective teaching strategies to engage and motivate adult learners.
  4. Must be patient, flexible, and able to work with individuals with various backgrounds and abilities.
  5. Must understand the urban community college philosophy of the open-door concept.
 
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  1. At least 1-2 years of experience working with Adult Education/Adult Learners preferred.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Education or a related field-Master’s preferred

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
 
WORK SCHEDULE:
 
            8:00am-1:00pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and 5:00pm-9:00pm Tuesday
 
            29 hours per week for 45 weeks beginning August 5th  
 
SALARY:       $17,100.00 (When grant ends this position will end)
