ADJUNCT FACULTY – MEDICAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM – GENERAL FACULTY

Medical Assistant Program Faculty shall be responsible to the Medical Assistant Program Coordinator/Director and to the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health for all matters pertaining to the development and implementation of the program, the facilitation of the teaching/learning process, and the supervision of students.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Curriculum development including course descriptions, objectives, and content
  2. Planning and organization of classrooms, and labs
  3. Selection of appropriate instructional strategies and procedures
  4. Selection of appropriate materials, textbooks, equipment, and software
    1. Maintain equipment in instructional areas
    2. Recommend new items for the program as needed
  5. Evaluation of student progress as related to learning objectives
  6. Maintenance of appropriate student records
  7. Orient, counsel, and advise students as needed
  8. Participate in program evaluation and maintenance of educational and professional standards
  9. Assist with, and maintain program accreditation
  10. Participate in program Advisory Committee meetings, staff meetings, Division meetings, and other college activities
  11. Attend classes, workshops, seminars, and college in-services for professional development
  12. Exhibits positive human relations skills
  13. Maintains an environment which is conducive to learning with particular attention to safety practices, good housekeeping and student behavior
  14. Collaborate with the following College employees:
    1. Program colleague instructors
    2. Designated Division Administrative Assistant
 
CONSULTING TASKS
  1. Discuss program issues with the Program Coordinator/Director, Full-Time Medical Assistant Faculty,  and/or the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health as needed
  2. Consult with College employees in other areas as needed
 
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Knowledge of Anatomy/Physiology, Medico-Legal, and Medical Terminology
  2. Knowledge of learning processes, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology
  3. Ability to work effectively with administration, faculty, and students
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  1. A Bachelor’s degree in a related area required, Master’s degree in related field preferred
  2. Instruction in educational theory and techniques which may include college courses, seminars, or in-service education
  3. Credentialed as a Medical Assistant by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (CMA, RMA, CCMA) preferred
  4. Medical Assistant work experience in clinical and/or business functions preferred
  5. Teaching experience preferred

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
 
 
START DATE:                      Fall, 2015
 
SALARY:                               $742.00 per credit hour
