JOB PURPOSE:
Manage all aspects of the Practical Nursing (PN) program, including, but not limited to: curriculum revision and development, maintenance of approval status, recruitment and selection of students, faculty assignments, and evaluation of students and the program. This individual serves as a liaison between the Dean and the PN faculty.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and revise nursing curriculum, course descriptions, course content, program, course and clinical objectives with faculty input to ensure alignment with the Kansas PN Core Curriculum.
  • Perform activities necessary to maintain approval from the Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN).
  • Conduct an on-going, comprehensive assessment of program effectiveness.
  • Advise and enroll PN and pre-nursing students.
  • Supervise the recruitment and selection of students for the PN program.
  • Recruit and maintain quality clinical placement facilities that support student success.
  • Schedule and coordinate clinical placement for students.
  • Coordinate and chair the Advisory Board, including selection of members and planning for meetings.
  • Prepare and submit annual reports, including but not limited to KSBN, KBOR, HLC, Perkins, and KCKCC.
  • Develop and administer the PN budget.
  • Seek sources of and manage grant funding, including Carl D. Perkins.
  • Coordinate textbook selection and ordering.
  • Facilitate the recruitment, development, and retention of an outstanding and diverse faculty and staff.
  • Orient, supervise, and evaluate staff assigned to the program.
  • Orient and mentor faculty assigned to the program.
  • Recommend and evaluate technology for the program.
  • Provide accurate information for inclusion in the KCKCC Catalog, website, and PN program handbooks.
  • Promote the program through recruitment and marketing activities such as responding to program inquiries, preparing and dispensing brochures, create presentations, attend career fairs, visit high schools, etc.
  • Maintain records for all program students during the program and for a period of five (5) years after graduation.
  • Consult with other PN programs in Kansas and the Metro area.
  • Consult with the Dean for development of the course schedule, teaching assignments, load reporting, and faculty evaluation.

  • Serve on committees and contribute to the work of the committee.
  • Participate in graduation and pinning exercises.
  • Work effectively in a variety of teams.
  • Travel locally on a regular basis and throughout the country as needed to fulfill the duties of the position and maintain currency in approval guidelines, learner-center instruction, and nursing practice

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing.
  • Current or eligible for licensure as a nurse in the state of Kansas.
  • Five (5) years, full-time post licensure experience.
  • Three (3) years’ experience as a faculty member.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:

  • Experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse or with supervising Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Coursework in curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Experience in administration, academic governance, fiscal management, and human resource management.

 

SALARY RANGE:  $71,070-$88,780, actual salary will be commensurate with Education and Experience.

 

WORK SCHEDULE: Must be able to work variable schedule/hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
