Job Purpose: Instruct Journalism classes as assigned.


  • Teach assigned classes in Journalism
  • Maintain student attendance records
  • Evaluates student performance and learning
  • Provides regular and timely evaluation feedback to students
  • Assigns grades consistent with course requirements and according to college procedures
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Supports diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity

  • Journalism experience


  • A Master’s Degree in Journalism or a related field, or at least 18 graduate hours in Journalism
  • Special consideration will be given to candidates with the following:
    • Experience as professional reporter
    • Experience as professional news editor
    • Ability to teach students journalism fundamentals and advanced reporting

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.  Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items.  The employee is directly responsible for safety, wellbeing, and work output.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

SALARY:   The salary for this position is: $783.00 per credit


Must be able to work a variable schedule/varying hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours; as needed.
