The Controller manages the department providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all college activities that will assist management, the Board of Trustees and other managers in making educated economic decisions about the college’s future. 
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  1. Oversee the activities of the College’s Financial Department for the accurate and timely dissemination  of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial    statements, and annual audits and annual budgets.
  2. Oversee the activities of the College’s Business Office, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of   accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, payroll processing and total college payroll tax compliance.
  3. Oversee the activities of Accounts Receivable to ensure the accurate and timely management of all Accounts Receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc; funding service management which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports; and check statistic management.
  4. Assure college compliance, accuracy and timely completion of all college, state, and federal information reporting.
  5. Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and    data, and enhance the college’s value.
  6. Respond to CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs.
  7. Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
  8. Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional      manner.
  9. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  10. Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
 
  1. Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and banking working knowledge.
  2. Very computer friendly – spreadsheet proficient (hardware and software)
  3. SEC/Contractual negotiation a plus
  4. Strong managerial abilities
     COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
  1. Spreadsheet package, PowerPoint, and data base operations.
  2. Latest computer technology – working interface with all college’s programs and systems – familiarization with Ellucian/Colleague Datatel. .

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education:

1.  Completion of a bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance from an accredited college or university 
     required
2.  CPA Certification required
 
Experience:

1.  The Controller or Chief Financial Officer level
2.  Ten years of financial experience and management experience with the day-to-day financial   
     operations of an organization of at least 15 staff persons.
