JOB PURPOSE:
Assist students with mastering subject matter and skills that will contribute to their personal and intellectual development. This single posting will be used to fill several Adjunct Faculty positions at our Main Campus or Pioneer Career Center locations.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support College Policies and Procedures, Growth, and Enhancement of Mission:

  • Convene scheduled classes in accordance with college policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Exercise stewardship of college facilities and materials.
  • Mentor students.


Instruction: Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and--in harmony with the goals--establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicate these objectives to students.

  • Communicate teaching philosophy to students.
  • Articulate, accept, and uphold the mission and purpose of Kansas City Kansas Community College.
  • Demonstrate a student-centered philosophy.
  • Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field or discipline.
  • Stay current in subject matter through professional development activities.
  • Infuse diversity into curriculum.
  • Infuse local, community, global, and environmental awareness into curriculum.


Facilitation of the Teaching Learning Process:

  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning.
  • Maintain up-to-date course content.
  • Provide learning activities that meet course objectives.
  • Meet learning needs of diverse student populations.


Evaluation of Student Learning:

  • Adhere to division-determined and KBOR approved course outcomes.
  • Adhere to College, State, and Federal established deadlines for submitting reports and records related. to student learning and student outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Utilize assessment techniques to monitor student progress and success as outlined in the division and college assessment plans.

Technology:

  • Operate and stay current on appropriate instructional technology equipment (over-heads, computers, Display Devices, Smart classroom equipment, etc.)
  • Demonstrate Computer Literacy and Internet Skills.
  • Retrieve and manage information via technology.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to provide online instruction.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Present didactic concepts.
  • Write test questions for didactic content presented.
  • Supervise students in clinical rotations.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Communicate effectively using reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Work in teams.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Hold a current Kansas Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years full-time licensed nursing experience (LPN or RN).
  • Meet at least one of the following:
    • At least 1,750 hours of experience as a licensed nurse in a setting which demonstrates long-term nursing care, such as an adult care home, long term care unit of a hospital or a state institution for the mentally handicapped OR
    • Completed (or be able to complete by January 2019) at least 7 hours professional continuing education in “Person Centered Care for the Adult Care Home”
  • Meet at least one of the following requirements:
    • Experience supervising nurse aides OR
    • Experience teaching adults OR
    • Completed (or be able to complete by January 2019) a course in teaching adults OR
    • Completed (or be able to complete by January 2019) a professional continuing education offering on supervision or adult education.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

SALARY: $782/credit hour or $45.36/hour (depending on course delivery methodology).

WORK SCHEDULE:
Must be able to work a variable schedule/varying hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours; as needed.
