PART-TIME TOOL ROOM ATTENDANT – AUTOMOTIVE COLLISION REPAIR

Reporting directly to the Automotive Collision Repair Technology Coordinator, the Attendant shall work with and assist the Automotive Collision Repair Technology Instructors in the following areas:
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  1. Organize, maintain and monitor tools and consumable supplies.
  2. Ensure the safety of equipment and tools are above standards.
  3. Charge out supplies and keep inventory on a computer management system.
  4. Monitor and service scan tool and electronic equipment for automotive applications.
  5. Perform occasional service writing and bookkeeping.
  6. Enforce all rules and regulations, per the college’s guidelines and other enforcement agencies that govern student practices of KCKCC.
  7. Responsible for the transportation of students during field trips per the College’s policies and guidelines
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
  9. Work schedule will be part-time, 29 or less hours per week.
 
CONSULTING TASKS:
  1. May consult with Automotive Collision Repair Technology faculty and students.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  1. Must have the ability to operate tools and equipment related to the automotive environment.
  2. Must have the ability to work with individuals of various backgrounds and abilities.
  3. Must have the ability to multi-task and adapt to new responsibilities.
  4. Must have the ability to carry out verbal and written instructions and provide proper assistant to the instructors.
  5. Must have the ability to follow OSHA standards and ensure work will be completed to KCKCC standards and policies.
  6. Must understand the philosophy of the urban, open-door community college.
  7. Applicant must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  1. High School Diploma or GED and completion of an automotive technology program required.
  2. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in one or more areas, work experience in a teaching/team-oriented environment and service writing experience are preferred.
  3. Automotive experience and automotive tool knowledge required.
  4. Experience with automotive service management system and knowledge with parts inventory is a plus.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
 
 
SALARY:            $11.75  (If a current KCKCC employee is selected for this position, consideration will be given to his/her current salary.)
