 ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR – AUTO COLLISION REPAIR (NIGHT PROGRAM) -- FALL 2016

Kansas City Kansas Community College is searching for an evening Adjunct Faculty for the Fall 2016 semester, who is creative, open to change, has a passion for learning and are willing to promote the mission of the College.
 
Reporting directly to the Auto Collision Repair Coordinator, the Adjunct Instructor shall work with and assist the Auto Collision Repair Instructors in the following areas:
 
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provide technical guidance in the performance of specific tasks in the maintenance and repair of vehicles.
  2. Observe and document student performance of tasks assigned by Collision Repair instructors.
  3. Ensure safety practices are followed by students.
  4. Follow required pollution prevention procedures in the handling of chemicals and waste products.
  5. Maintain records of repair orders for proper accountability of parts and materials.
  6. Maintain control of college owned specialty tools for use by students.
  7. Enforcing all rules and regulations, per the college’s guidelines and other enforcement agencies that govern student practices of KCKCC.
  8. Being responsible for the transportation of students during field trips per the college’s policies and guidelines.
  9. Traveling with students to off campus activities.
  10. Performing other duties as assigned by the respective instructor.
  11. Work schedule will be part-time.
  12. Be able to facilitate college and I-CAR curriculum.
 
CONSULTING TASKS:

May consult with Collision Repair faculty and students. 
 
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  1. Must know and be able to teach proper and correct techniques in Collision Repair.
  2. Must have the ability to work with individuals of various backgrounds and abilities.
  3. Must understand the philosophy of the urban, open-door community college.
  4. Applicant must be  able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  1. Must have 3-5 years’ experience as a Collision Repair technician performing the varied duties in a Collision Repair shop environment.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  3. ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification is preferred. Persons in this position will be required to, at some point, pass ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification exams and retain certifications throughout employment.
  4. I-CAR points and certifications would be beneficial, but not required.
  5. Person should have experience and an understanding of all aspects of the collision repair industry; non-structural repair, structural repair, painting and refinishing, and some mechanical and electrical knowledge

SALARY:           $742.00 per credit hour
