FULL-TIME CUSTODIAN IV FLOAT/FLOOR TECH

Reporting directly to the Supervisor of Custodians, the primary responsibility of the Full-Time Custodian will be to perform tasks needed and assigned that relate to the maintenance and cleanliness of the buildings and grounds.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. The purpose of this position is to perform those tasks needed and assigned that relate to the maintenance and cleanliness of the buildings and grounds
  2. Be here on scheduled work days, on time and ready to work
  3. Able to adjust schedule; days or hours, to cover events if necessary
  4. Clean, sanitize, and stock supplies in restrooms & classrooms
  5. Clean blinds, windows and glass doors
  6. Clean sweep, mop and / or vacuum floors
  7. Use other custodial equipment, buffers, extractors and auto scrubbers.
  8. Clean carpet and maintain tile floors.
  9. Empty trash and remove recycling materials
  10. Dust furniture, pictures, vents and walls
  11. Drive company vehicles to other sites to deliver supplies or to work
  12. Set-up of classrooms, offices, etc., for various classes and activities on campus
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Custodians

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  1. Assisting in the performance of whatever tasks are necessary in the maintenance of the building and grounds during inclement weather and/or conditions.
  2. On call 24/7. Must be willing to work when needed, this may include weekends and holidays.
CONSULTING TASKS
  1. Assist the Supervisor with special projects
  2. Assist the Supervisor in achieving departmental goals
  3. Assist the Supervisor in maintaining the safety of the campus
  4. Assist, where needed, in the movement and installation of equipment, office furnishings,lights, etc.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
            None
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  1. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  2. Ability to be here when scheduled and on time
  3. Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines required
  4. Ability to work well with minimal supervision preferred
  5. Ability to work well with individuals with various abilities and backgrounds
  6. Ability to learn tasks that relate to the maintenance of the campus buildings and grounds
  7. Ability to take care of customer service requests or undesirable tasks on short notice and in a professional manner
  8. Ability to read and understand written directions for the mixing, dilution, and use of hazardous chemicals
     

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required
  2. At least six (6) months experience in general custodial work required.
  3. At least six(6) months floor care experience in the operation of equipment & use of chemicals.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Physical ability sufficient to operate cleaning equipment and assist in function set-ups
  2. Physical ability, push and or pull carts
  3. Physical ability to lift; recycling, custodial supplies and trash into truck, compactor and bins
  4. Visual ability sufficient to recognize areas that require cleaning attention
  5. Hearing ability sufficient to notice alarms and mechanical malfunctions
     
    All applicants tentatively selected for this position at Kansas City Kansas Community College will be required to submit to, and successfully complete, a physical examination and criminal background check prior to appointment.  Applicants will also be required to submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal or prohibited drug use.  Appointment to the position is contingent upon negative drug test results.
     
    SALARY: $25,311.98 plus fringe benefits


    HOURS:   Sunday-Thursday 9:00p.m.-5:30 a.m.
                     (Summer Schedule) Sunday-Wednesday 7:30p.m.-5:30 a.m.
    Days and hours may change to meet needs of the business and cover events.
